Welcome to the Leather Temple, the leather production arm of the Sons.
Luke started learning leatherwork to wrap our sabers, but over the last four years, he has developed a deep love of this dying art. Being the fool that he is, Luke produces all of his bespoke leatherwork by hand, including cutting, dyeing, tooling, painting and stitching.
Luke’s original focus was trying to create the perfect satchel that was stylish, durable and practical. Inspired by World War II military leatherwork, Luke followed the tried and true Sons method of creation, destruction and creation to make a truly unique everyday carry bag!
Mk 1 Caribou Satchel
Looking for an amazing everyday carry like the one above made for Mr Adam Savage from Mythbusters? Look no further than the Mk 1 Caribou! Why the Caribou? All of our combat sabers are named after famous military fighters, so we decided to name our bags after famous transport aircraft!
The Caribou is literally handmade by Luke, with all cutting, dyeing, tooling painting and stitching being done by Luke, not a machine used! Each bag on average in about 100 hours of work including lots of hand cramps!
Each bag is 27cm x 23 cm x 10cm hard leather case and it includes the bag with a hand-tooled and painted front patch of your choice as well as an extra hand-tooled and painted design on the inner pocket! The bag is lined with waxed canvas and comes with a strap, strap pouch and leather shoulder protector. As this is a bespoke item, you have complete control over size, leather colours and interior colouring. Minimum pricing is $1200 per bag. We can also add wet moulded details such as business card holders or coin pouches at an additional fee. Production time is 3-4 months as this is a bespoke item.
